Poster Challenge

Poster Design

The idea behind my poster was to develop a green and eco-friendly illustration of Montreal. I wanted to incorporate many different modes of transportation like the metro, tramway and the train which looks like the new REM project coming soon in Montreal. Showing all these means of transportation, was my way to demonstrate how already Montreal is doing its best to reduce any emission of carbon dioxide but also how the city’s future leans toward a more environmentally friendly city. I incorporated Montreal’s iconic monuments to create the city’s skyline and to make the illustration relevant to the city of Montreal. The colour palette is based on a vivid green, the yellow was created out of the main green, variations of greens and yellow were created to create shadows and highlights.

The goal of this project was to design a poster for the yearly poster challenge of Marc H. Choko, chairman of the UQAM graphic design department. The theme of the 2019 poster challenge was:Active mobility and collective transportation.

Making this illustration was my way to demonstrate how already Montreal promotes collective transportation with its different ways of transportation, excluding the tramway which is not in service in the city anymore. Including it was relevant to enhancing the general message of the poster. Using a vivid greenish and yellowish colour palette helped promote this idea of a very green city.
