Art Nouveau
Packaging
To successfully achieve this challenge, I had to discover the work of the main artists of the movement and reinterpret the codes of the movement in order to find the right concept for this project.
The purpose of this project was to create a paper-based game, its packaging and a booklet inspired by the Art Nouveau movement
(1890-1910).
Creating a staircase looking puzzle that would also look like a furniture object was the best solution to honour the movement. The staircase had to be decorative like every work of the movement. Using the concept of Jenga helped create the interaction between the game and the user. I decorated one side with a typeface characteristic to the movement and I created a Victor Mucha looking illustration to decorate the other side of the staircase.
The game was successful because it was made to be an architectural object as well as a furniture object which were two disciplines of the movement. The golden box was designed to be luxurious and decorative which were also the main characteristics of the Art Nouveau movement.
